WHAT IS TRUTH?

In reading John 18:37,38 in the NKJV Bible, you find Christ on trial before His crucifixion. Pilate, the Roman Governor of Judea, was questioning Him. When Pilate asked Christ whether He was a King, Christ answered, “ You say rightly that I am a King . For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hear my voice.”

Pilate’s response was “What is truth?” What a profound question. Do you know the answer? If there is only one truth then all else must be lies. Truth is that which agrees with final reality. If we are honest with ourselves we all want to be counted among those who know and believe truth, since it will affect our final reality.

There are many religions, beliefs as well as non-beliefs in this world. Within these, people proclaim that what they know and practice is the truth. How do they validate their beliefs or do they even care to try? If there can only be one truth, it should be considered important to seek for it.

The Bible has many verses that speak of the truth. In John 14:6 Christ says, “ I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Also John 8:31, 32, Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” If you look at the Topical Index in the Bible you can find many more references on truth.

The wonderful thing about the Word of God, is that, from the front of the Bible to the back, it does not contradict itself. It has complete continuity. The prophecies that were made by God through the Old Testament prophets have been fulfilled. The truths of the Bible have not changed, but have been preserved down through time as God left them, for us to seek and find.

In many beliefs today, the truth fluctuates depending on what is popular, what will attract the most people. It also can depend on the person or persons in control at the time. This works because many people want to create their own truth. Truth can not be created. It is not evolutionary. TRUTH IS TRUTH!

There are many testimonies from people, who experiencing difficult circumstances in their life, decided there had to be something better. They were motivated to seek the truth. They started by reading the Bible and found the truth in its pages. If you are sincerely seeking the truth, pray for God’s help and make the Bible your first choice of exploration. You will not be disappointed.
