Security of the Believer

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." This is the most important thing about the security of our salvation, is that it is obtained by grace.
Adam and Eve were created as perfect individuals that were free to make their own choices. They were under the law from God not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They were free moral agents to choose to obey or to disobey the command given to them by God. There was a condition set
before them by using the term "if". This allows Adam and Eve to make a choice to do right or to do wrong. Adam and Eve both partook of the forbidden fruit and fell from their perfect state in which they were created. Many people today are saying that this is an example as to how we can fall from the perfect state that the soul is in after it has been saved by the grace of God. It is true that Adam and Eve fell from their perfect state but the reason is because they disobeyed the law. "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but ye are under grace". Grace saves us and that same grace keeps us. No matter how much this mortal body sins the soul cannot. And regardless of how often we sin or "how bad" we sin does not affect the keeping of the soul because ".... where sin abounded, grace did much more abound."

When we are saved and become children of God, "for ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." We are born of the spirit. As one is born of water (flesh) one must be born of the Spirit to have an inheritance of heaven, John 3:5 "Jesus answered. Verily, verily, I say unto thee. Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." Believers are not only the adopted sons and daughters of God, but they are His children by birth as well. He made us His heirs and joint heirs with His Son. Omniscience and
omnipotence are the back of the whole matter of His power and knowledge that is able to keep us joint heirs. When we become children with God we become sealed by His spirit Ephesians 1:13-14 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." As soon as the believer trusts in Christ he is sealed for eternity.

John 10:27-29 assures us that we are placed in the hands of God. Jesus tells us that no man can pluck us out of his hand or the hand of his father. To some though, a fear of him casting us out of his hand occurs. Jesus then assures us that " him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" John 6:37. Is there anything else that we can feel more secure in? We believe the Bible teaches us no one if safer than a child of God is not only because he keeps us but because we have also obtained eternal life. Eternal life does not mean a short duration, nor for a day or so, but for eternity. This guarantees us to live forever in the presence of God. Thanks be unto God that we can be safe and secure through the almighty power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
