"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." II Corinthians 1:3,4.
I have often said this passage of scripture is the sweetest passage in the Bible other than John 3:16. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
God comforteth his children so they might be able to comfort others that are in any trouble the whole world lieth in waste, if land is not cultivated it will grow up in weeds and briars, eventually become a forest, likewise, if the human family is not comforted and nurtured back to God, we become a forest, something God did not intend his creation to become. Man is a free moral being, therefore, he can choose God and live, or remain in his lost condition and die without God. As we seek to comfort others, God will send comfort to us by whatever means he chooses.
